WHAT IS KAWAIIKOWAI?
Japanese for "Cute" and "Scary," KawaiiKowai is a monster art brand created by Sion Lee. Beginning with his inaugural piece "Make Lava Not War" in 2013, KawaiiKowai has grown to include a universe of monsters both in the real world (in the form of 24"x24" gallery-wrapped canvas) and the digital world (in the form of non-fungible tokens -- aka NFTs).
HISTORY
2013
KawaiiKowai's first piece, Make Lava Not War, is created. It is the first in a line of 8 limited edition 24"x24" and 12"x12" gallery-wrapped canvas pieces.
2013

KawaiiKowai makes its debut at the world-famous 626 Night Market in Los Angeles and Orange County.
2014
The Real Stan Lee, of the late Marvel comic writer and producer Stan Lee, interviews Sion Lee and KawaiiKowai.
2017
KawaiiKowai sponsors events at Gameboi San Francisco and Raz nightclubs.
2018
Kung Fu Tea Las Vegas becomes the exclusive exhibitor and brick and mortar retailer of KawaiiKowai's canvas art.
2019
Cosplayer Phil Mizuno and KawaiiKowai team up to release Kowaizu, part of the Mewzuno collection of plush toys.
2021
KawaiiKowai mints its first non-fungible token (NFT), a purely digital and limited edition collectible.
